DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Papier-Mâché Foundations: a hands-on workshop where you’ll explore how simple materials like paper and paste can be transformed into expressive\, dimensional artwork. Discover how this accessible medium can support everything from playful experimentation to intricate sculptural work. \n\n\n\nPapier-Mâché Foundations: A Three-Part Workshop SeriesThis three-part workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to papier-mâché techniques\, guiding participants from basic construction methods to finished decorative surfaces. Using affordable\, easily accessible materials\, students will explore a creative process that can be adapted from simple projects to highly intricate sculptural work.Part 1: Materials & StructureParticipants will be introduced to essential tools and materials\, including paper types\, adhesives\, and paste recipes. The session focuses on armature construction\, teaching students how to build strong internal supports using wire\, cardboard and found materials to create stable forms.Part 2: Application Techniques & Form DevelopmentThis session explores paper layering\, paper pulp techniques\, and mold usage. Students will learn how to achieve smooth surfaces\, add dimensional details\, and refine sculptural shapes while understanding drying times and structural integrity.Part 3: Surface & Finishing TechniquesThe final session focuses on painting and finishing methods. Participants will explore sealing\, priming\, painting\, and decorative techniques to bring their pieces to life. Guidance will also be provided on how to safely dry and preserve completed works.Throughout the series\, participants will receive detailed visual and written handouts summarizing key concepts and techniques\, enabling them to continue working independently.
