SUMMARY:Fabric Coil Bowls- A fabric based sculptural textile process with Lorna Beecroft
DESCRIPTION:Create a bowl from nothing but fabric and your sewing machine. Just stitch\, coil and shape. Slow down\, get creative and make something completely your own. \n\n\n\nIn this hands-on class\, you’ll learn how to create beautiful fabric coil bowls using a simple yet striking technique. Each bowl is formed by making a continuous rope entirely from fabric. The fabric itself becomes the structure. Once your rope is created\, you’ll stitch it into a spiral\, slowly building and shaping your bowl. Throughout the process\, you’ll discover how fabric choice\, strip width\, stitch selection\, and gentle guiding all influence the final form. This is a slow\, mindful method that allows the bowl to evolve naturally in your hands. \n\n\n\nNo two bowls will ever be the same and that is exactly the point. Each piece reflects your materials\, your decisions\, and your touch\, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind creation. \n\n\n\nYou are required to bring your own sewing machine with thread for this class. All other materials will be provided.

SUMMARY:Hare's Mystery - A three week Acrylic Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This acrylic workshop is about letting the image emerge from the unknown. We begin with a richly textured painted background. The “mystery” lies in the process. The final image slowly appears out of the background\, as if it was always there waiting to be discovered. \n\n\n\nI’ll be teaching a series of three acrylic painting classes called “Hare’s Mystery.”  \n\n\n\nThe technique focuses on unveiling the background behind the final image. First\, I’ll guide students in creating a textured\, painted background. Then\, we’ll use a semi-transparent mask to gradually reveal the final subject—in this case\, the Hare That’s the “mystery”: the subject emerges from the background. \n\n\n\nMaterial Included \n\n\n\n\nAcrylic paint\n\n\n\nAcrylic paint markers\n\n\n\nTrace paper with the floral design\n\n\n\n\nNote: Students\, please bring your round brush number 6 and 12 and white Charcoal pencil \n\n\n\nWednesdays. Participants should have taken at least one previous printmaking workshops. Having taken ‘The Linoleum Print – The Power of One Colour’ would be an asset. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Reduction Relief Print\n\n\n\nThis method of multicolour printing requires only one linoblock\, woodblock or other material suitable for cutting or gouging. The flat upper surface of this material is the relief surface\, which carries the ink colour to be printed onto paper or fabric or other flat material. Any gouged or cut out areas will not receive ink and therefore will not print. The process involves repeating the cutting and printing steps\, one for each colour in the design. Once printing of the edition is complete\, further prints cannot be made from the block as much of the surface has been destroyed in the process. \n\n\n\n 1. Usually a design is first drawn or transferred onto the block. \n\n\n\n2. Areas to remain white (assuming the paper is white) are then carved from the block. \n\n\n\n3. The first (usually the lightest) colour is then mixed and rolled onto the relief surface of the block. \n\n\n\n4. The block is placed into a registration template. \n\n\n\n5. Paper is registered into a fixed position on top of the block and pressure is applied to transfer the ink from block to paper. \n\n\n\n6. The paper is removed and the image is transferred appearing in reverse. \n\n\n\n7. This inking and printing is repeated for this first colour for all the prints in the edition. \n\n\n\n8. The areas of the design to remain in the first colour are then carved from the block. \n\n\n\n9.  A second colour is mixed and rolled onto the block and printed over the first. \n\n\n\n10. This process is repeated until all the colours are applied\, layer on layer. Demonstrations will include how to transfer images to the block\, cutting techniques\, ink colour mixing and application to the block\, paper registration techniques\, printing with and without a press and print signing protocols. Participants will take home a small edition of prints. \n\n\n\nAll materials will be provided.

SUMMARY:Watercolour Monotype - A Painterly Print
DESCRIPTION:A Monotype is a unique (one only) image that is created on one surface (in this case a plastic plate) and then transferred with pressure onto another (paper). Possibly the most ‘painterly’ and direct printmaking technique\, Watercolour Monotype will interest those who like to paint with watercolour\, gouache or to draw with coloured pencils\, crayons\, pastels etc. Working on a clear plastic surface allows us to trace from a drawing or previous artwork using the same watercolour techniques as on paper but with the added benefit of being able to erase and change ideas or mistakes before committing to an expensive piece of paper. \n\n\n\nThis is an entry level workshop so you need not have any previous printmaking experience. You will learn the basics of making a print\, safe use of an etching press\, studio protocol and the tradition of signing and numbering a print. The workshop fee covers all necessary materials. However\, if you have some favourite watercolours or other water soluble paints\, crayons etc. you wish to use by all means bring them. \n\n\n\nPrints featured in the poster are by Mary Ann and Melanie \n\n\n\nAll materials will be provided.Wednesday\, April 15th\, 2026\, 9:30am -4:00pm. Half hour break for lunch.
